Quell has had an impressive run these past 6 years, proving to everybody that he is not one to shy away from any challenges in the music world, in which he lives and breathes, having presented an impressive array of releases on premium labels like Ibadan Records, Tsuba, These Days, 4Lux and 8Bit among others. 2013 is about to be heavily marked by his debut LP on the legendary Ibadan Records, entitled 'Them Crowd Kids' as well as 12" singles on Ralph Lawson's 2020Vision Recordings and the parisian Skylax Records to begin with.
It's very easy nowadays for anyone to declare themselves a music producer, DJ or musician and ephemeral trends in music come and go at unprecedented pace. The difference that sets apart an artist like Quell from the rest, is his constant strive to become part of a cast of people, who through perseverance and hard work have built up longevous legacies and unique identities in music over time, while simultaneously keeping the present moment fresh and exciting in the studio and at the club.
"It is my firm belief that a DJ should be able to entertain as much as educate a crowd and the two don't have to be mutually exclusive values. DJing is one of the most misunderstood jobs around and It's vital to me, for the people who come see you to get more than their money's worth and experience an engaging performance" says Quell, whose DJ abilities can reach and combine genres/styles so far apart, that very few of his contemporaries have been able to master. Travelling all over the world, but also playing some hand-picked, special interest events in his adopted home of Berlin, he presents shows that include 3-4 hour high energy house/techno of all times to more expansive long-hour shows weaving through post punk, indie and disco back to house and techno.
